Reviews & Accolades:

5 Stars - "A blend of 15% Gibbston and 85% Parkburn-grown grapes. Rich, ripe wine with plum, dark cherry, thyme, anise, dark chocolate and spicy oak flavours. An elegant, intense and quite complex pinot noir."

- Bob Campbell (The Real Review), July 2021

5 Stars (18.5-/20 pts (92 pts) - "Deep, ruby-black with a deep purple hue, lighter edged. This nose is intensely aromatic and full, underlying alcohol power; black cherry aromas melded with blackberries, an amalgam of barrel spices and black pepper. Medium-full bodied, aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries and plums unfold, entwined with liquorice, black pepper, barrel spices and a hint of roasted coffee beans. Fine-grained tannin extractions contribute to a silky palate; balanced and integrated acidity linger to a powerful, spicy closing. This is a powerful, black-fruited Pinot Noir with spices on a silky palate. Match with Moroccan lamb and peppercorn cured venison over the next 4-5 years. Fruit was sourced from Gibbston 15%, Parkburn 85%, 1 to 4 days maceration, fermented over 1 week to 14% alc, post-ferment maceration for 10-14 days. Aged 10 months in French oak, 33% new oak, 18% 1 year old".

5 Stars / 95 Points - "A wine of great degree of elegance and poise, it's delightfully perfumed on the nose showing sweet cherry, roasted nut, mushroom and floral aromas with a hint of dried herb complexity. The concentrated palate offers refined mouthfeel and velvety flow, combined with excellent weight and stylish complexity, leading to a persistent seamless finish. At its best: now to 2032. $45.00. www.rockburn.co.nz. Aug 2021".

- Sam Kim, Wine Orbit - October 2021

5 Stars - "Made by Malcolm Rees-Francis, the most dapperly-dressed man in all the land, this bright-as-a-button new release features a combo of 85% Parkburn Vineyard fruit and 15% Gibbston Valley fruit which knits together buckets of fresh spices, perky red fruits and lush, dark floral notes. Cherry, redcurrant and rhubarb flavours wrap around black tea and tweaks of baked tamarillo to create a lush, supremely lively, super-fresh style that’s drinking beautifully now, but will mature sensationally over the next seven years or so".

- Yvonne Lorkin - August 2021

4 1/2 Stars - "Great colour, concentration of aromas and complexity with an enticing mix of ripe berries, spices of wood and quiet savoury core of dried herb, mineral, place and time. Follow through on the palate is seamless with flavours of raspberry and red apple, dark cherry and dried herbs. Oak flavours layer in quickly with a mix of brown spice, an abundance of fine grained tannins then acidity adds youth and freshness. Delicious, ripe, fresh, varietal and young. A wine for the cellar as well as early drinking if desired. Best from late 2022 through 2028+".

- Cameron Douglas MS, July 2021

4 1/2 Stars - "This graceful, finely poised red was grown at Parkburn (mostly) and Gibbston, and matured for 10 months in French oak barrels (33% new). Deep ruby, it is fragrant and vibrantly fruity, with mouthfilling body and strong cherry, plum and spice flavours, showing excellent vigour and harmony. Best drinking 2024+. $45 (A, UK, US)"
