The Rockburn Central Otago Pinot Gris 2025 captures the essence of its cool-climate origins, with fruit sourced from the high-altitude Gibbston sub-region. Known for its slower ripening season, Gibbston delivers grapes with vibrant acidity and expressive fruit character — think juicy pear, white nectarine, and subtle citrus blossom.
For this 2025 vintage, our winemaking team has pushed the wine, introducing a touch more skin contact to bring added depth, texture, and a delicate blush of colour. The result is a Pinot Gris with lifted aromatics, generous palate weight, and a whisper of tannin — a subtle nod to its textural ambition.
This makes for an incredibly food-friendly style, with a chameleon-like ability to match a wide range of cuisines, from fresh seafood and spicy Asian fare to richer poultry and pork dishes. While it’s already drinking beautifully now, this Pinot Gris has the structure and balance to reward those with patience, evolving gracefully over the next few years.
Reviews & Accolades
4 stars - Michael Cooper, New Zealand Listener
94 points (5 stars) Sam Kim for Wine Orbit "It's finely scented on the nose with nuances of green pear, crunchy apple, lemon peel, and white flowers. The palate delivers excellent weight and a silky flow, beautifully framed by well-pitched acidity, with a persistent, elegant finish."
Rating: Excellent "Deep colour with copper tinges. Engaging perfume, stonefruits and stewed apple with a dusting of icing sugar, stony mineral nuances as it opens up. Bright and zesty in the mouth, apple leads, nashi pear, ginger fudge, wisps of caramel. Brimming with flavour, textural impact and chewy grip suggesting skin contact, with a powerfully zesty close. Fruit rich yet dry." - Mark Henderson, Otago Daily Times
